Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc is hiring a Multi Skilled Automation Technician at our Heinz site in Wigan. You will maintain and support our repack line and automated conveyor system, applying your knowledge to keep up-time.

The role is full-time on a 40-hour week with a rotating 3-shift pattern (22:00–06:00, 14:00–22:00, 06:00–14:00). The package includes pension, holidays, parking, and more.

Qualifications

• Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 18th Edition (desirable)
• Experience in automated process environment including PLCs, conveyors, auto wrappers, and closed loop systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the Asimo repack line to achieve agreed uptime.
• Carry out continuous improvement work to meet timescales, quality standards and KPIs.
• Identify and raise defects from plant surveillance and advise on priority fixes using root cause analysis.
• Investigate plant failure or deterioration and implement remedial actions; monitor effectiveness.
• Maintain plant history and statutory records as required in the in-house management system.

Are you an experienced Multi skilled automation technician?Do you have Conveyor experience? Want a position where you can apply and expand your knowledge?

Here at GXO, we are looking for an Multi Skilled Automation Technicianto join our team at our Heinzsite inWigan.You will be working on our repack operation and supporting our automated conveyor system.

This is a brand-new bespoke packaging line, utilising hi-tech 6axis pick and place robots and fully automatic palletisers, so super interesting!

This is a full time, permanent position. You'll be working 40 hours per week, with a 3-shift rotating pattern of 22.00-06.00, 14.00 -22.00 and 6.00 -14.00.

We're looking to offer a salary of up to£40,655.16 per annum inclusive of night shift allowance, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you'll do on a typical day:

• The primary aim is to systematically maintain and support the Asimo repack line to enable agreed operational up time
• Carrying out continuous improvement work meeting agreed timescales, quality standards and KPIs
• Identifying and raising defects as a result of plant surveillance and monitoring, advising on priority defects in designated areas of responsibility, using root cause analysis techniques
• Investigating plant failure or deterioration, recommending and carrying out remedial action. Monitoring the effectiveness of remedial maintenance or improvement work
• Supporting the maintenance of plant history and statutory records as required by reporting to the company's in-house management system workmate with all requisite data

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Experience in an automated process environment including PLC's, conveyors, Auto wrappers, Automatic S/R machines, closed loop communication systems, bar code scanners would be a benefit
• Must be able to work at height

• Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 18th Edition (desirable) - all electrical work is carried out by Engineer, who you will be supporting
