Job summary

Vanderlande in London–Heathrow is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to design and deliver automation solutions within complex environments. You’ll work with mechanical, electrical, software and safety disciplines from concept through implementation, upholding safety and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Have a degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience of automated material handling, baggage handling or similar industrial automation systems would be advantageous.
• Participation in design risk assessments and CDM activities, considering manufacturability, budgets and delivery requirements.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting user and project requirements, assessing feasibility and applying technical standards.
• Collaborating with the PLE and other disciplines to agree activities, deliverables and planning.
• Contributing to mechanical design decisions and ensuring safety compliance throughout the lifecycle.
• Producing project layouts using AutoCAD and Revit and maintaining data management.
• Coordinating third‑party equipment specifications and integration.
• Designing solutions that can be manufactured within agreed budgets.
