Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is recruiting an Automation Maintenance Shift Engineer for a Kraft Heinz site in Wigan. You will maintain automated systems, ensuring safe, reliable operation and leading continuous improvement initiatives in a state-of-the-art facility.

The role involves planned maintenance, fault diagnosis across Electrical/Mechanical/Controls, and collaboration with OEMs to minimise downtime. A 4-on/4-off shift pattern with 06:00–18:00 and 18:00–06:00 rotations is offered.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering (essential)
• NVQ Level 3 (desirable)
• 18th Edition Electrical wiring (desirable)
• IOSH (desirable)
• Experience in automated process environment including PLC's, conveyors, Auto wrappers, Automatic S/R machines, closed loop communication systems, bar code scanners would be a benefit
• Must be able to work at height

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities according to maintenance schedules and manuals
• Respond to equipment breakdowns punctually to minimise site downtime
• Diagnose and repair Electrical, Mechanical and Controls system faults
• Conduct inspections and monitor condition of equipment to identify potential failures before they occur and implementing prevention initiatives
• Ensure maintenance records are kept up to date accurately within the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Work collaboratively with internal teams & external OEMs during critical breakdowns
