Job summary

Lila Sciences is seeking an Engineer I for its on-site Research Operations team in Cambridge. You will operate automated workcells, prepare materials, monitor workflows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliable shift execution from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant Co-Op and industry laboratory experience.
• Hands-on lab experience with core techniques: pipetting, reagent preparation, aseptic technique.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document accurately and traceably.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot.
• Ability to organize work and manage multiple priorities in a high-throughput setting.
• On-site second shift from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Operate integrated laboratory automation and perform workflows.
• Prepare, organize, and verify reagents, samples, labware, and consumables.
• Follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety requirements.
• Monitor workflows in real time and perform first-line troubleshooting.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure reliability.
• Record data and ensure data integrity and traceability.
• Provide end-of-shift handoffs and communicate status and open issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cross-training to boost efficiency.
