Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. in Crick, Northamptonshire, is seeking an Automation Maintenance Engineer to keep automated warehouse systems running at peak performance. You will maintain conveyors, sortation and handling equipment, diagnose faults and support continuous improvement in a fast-moving environment.

The role is full-time on a Panama shift (2-2-3 or 2-3-2) from 07:00 to 19:00, offering a salary up to £51,000 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package.

• Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on automated warehouse equipment and systems.
• Diagnose automation faults, perform root cause analysis and implement repairs.

Here at GXO, we're looking for an Automation Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team at a cutting-edge distribution operation in Crick, Northamptonshire. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of a highly automated warehouse environment, supporting a range of technologies including conveyors, sortation equipment, and automated handling systems. Working closely with operational and support teams, you'll be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance activities, fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives that keep the operation moving. What you’ll do on a typical day:

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• A recognised electrical and mechanical engineering qualification, such as ONC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent
• Experience maintaining warehouse automation technologies, including conveyors, sortation systems, AGVs, or similar automated equipment
• Strong fault-finding capabilities within a complex, fast-paced operational environment
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across operational and technical teams
• A proactive, detail-focused approach with a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and delivering high engineering standards
