Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. in the Bath area is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Avonmouth site supporting the Amazon contract.

You will maintain a highly automated operation with roller conveyors and Intralox sorter tech, split ~60% mechanical and ~40% electrical, across maintenance and improvement projects. The role is full-time with hours 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, and offers a comprehensive benefits package including pension, dental insurance, life assurance and an employee assistance

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 18th Edition Electrical certification.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• Experience in automated engineering, manufacturing, logistics or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance to keep automated equipment operating safely and efficiently.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and control system faults to minimise downtime.
• Complete maintenance records, reports and documentation using the site CMMS system.
• Support continuous improvement projects, equipment upgrades and engineering initiatives across the site.

Would you like to work in a state-of-the-art automated distribution centre supporting one of the world's most recognised supply chains?

Join GXO as an Automation Engineer at our Avonmouth site supporting the Amazon contract. You'll maintain and improve a highly automated operation featuring roller conveyor networks and Intralox sorter technology, helping to maximise reliability, performance and uptime. The role is approximately 60% mechanical and 40% electrical, offering excellent variety across planned maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement projects. You'll play a key role in keeping the operation running safely and efficiently while working with advanced automation systems in a fast-paced engineering environment.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Working hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 till 17:00.

• NVQ level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 18th Edition Electrical certification
• IOSH managing safely certification
• Experience working in an automated engineering, manufacturing, logistics or maintenance environment
• Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems, with a pro-active approach to problem solving
• A safety-first mindset with the ability to work independently, manage priorities and drive continuous improvement
