Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a specialist autism school near Horsham in West Sussex. You don’t need prior school experience; you should have lived, learned and genuinely care about young people, bringing empathy, resilience and stability to the role.

You’ll work across classrooms and the wider day to help pupils feel safe and ready to engage, building trust and implementing EHCP-guided strategies with support from therapists and teachers.

Qualifications

• Warm, grounded and emotionally resilient person with life experience.
• Experience working with people with autism or learning needs in any setting.

Responsibilities

• Support wellbeing and learning of pupils with ASC across classroom and school day.
• Build meaningful relationships to provide stability and trust for progress.
• Implement individual support strategies per EHCP with guidance from teachers and therapists.
• Support communication needs using Makaton, PECS, AAC devices and other approaches.
• Help pupils manage sensory needs and transitions with calm, creativity and care.
• Keep accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures.
