Job Opportunity: 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with special educational needs? Are you a Psychology Graduate, experienced Teaching Assistant, or Carer seeking a rewarding role?

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Salary: £90 - £125 per day, depending on experience
  • Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Term: Term time only
  • Location: BS30, Warmley – easily accessible by public transport

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic Special Needs School in Warmley. In this role, you will work closely with a child diagnosed with Autism and other additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology Graduate or Teaching Assistant/Carer to gain further experience with SEND.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the student to engage in classroom activities and promote independence
  • Help build positive relationships with other pupils
  • Support communication development, both verbal and non-verbal
  • Assist the class teacher and provide additional support to other pupils when needed
Candidate Requirements:
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children (e.g., tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, nursery assistance)
  • Confidence in communicating with parents, students, and staff
  • Resilience and confidence in managing challenging behaviour
  • A relevant degree in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology is preferred
  • Experience with Autism, whether professional or personal, is beneficial
  • Empathy, flexibility, and enthusiasm for supporting children with SEND
