Job description

Autism Support Worker

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Are you keen to make a difference to a child's primary education experience? Protocol Education is currently recruiting for an Autism Support Worker to work full-time at a school in Bristol. The role will primarily be supporting a child on a 1:1 basis, meaning that an ability to build trust and create positive working relationships with children is essential in the successful candidate. The child will have an Education Health Care Plan, and either professional or personal experience with children or adults with additional needs is strongly desirable but not essential.

The role will be 5 days a week; however, due to high demand, we do have part-time and more flexible options available in other areas. Working hours are 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and the majority of your time will be spent supporting one child with their learning across the curriculum as well as helping to support their emotional and mental well-being. This includes providing intervention to help the child develop social skills, build confidence and resilience, and regulate their own emotions and corresponding behavior independently. Elements of the role will also include supporting the teacher with whole class learning and behavior management, as well as running interventions on a small group basis where necessary. All intervention work will be provided, if not guided by the class teacher.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Be positive, proactive, and patient
  2. Be willing to work as a team, taking advice from other colleagues and senior members of staff as well as sharing their own ideas
  3. Be enthusiastic and able to challenge and motivate all pupils

We can offer you:

  1. A welcoming and friendly team of experienced school staff
  2. Competitive rates of pay through PAYE
  3. FREE continued professional development training (CPD) including Team Teach
  4. Social events including free bowling and pizza nights
  5. A £50 Bonus ‘refer a teacher/TA’ payment scheme

If this role could be suited to you, please apply now!

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
