Job summary

Heath Farm School in Ashford, Kent is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with autism and additional needs. You will work with class teachers and the multi-professional team to foster a safe, welcoming learning environment.

This permanent, term-time role is 37.5 hours per week, with start in September 2026, and a salary of £23,321.34 per annum. A driving licence is required and UK applicants only.

Qualifications

  • Positive team player with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • SEN experience beneficial but not essential; training provided to help you succeed.
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Support class teachers and tutors in delivering high-quality education, implementing policies, and creating a structured, autism-appropriate learning environment.
  • Assist with planning, risk assessments, and the creation, updating, and evaluation of student documentation including IEPs, BSPs, risk assessments, and communication profiles.
  • Help manage challenging behaviour using consistent strategies that promote students’ development from external control to self-control.
  • Contribute to the preparation of teaching resources, classroom organisation, and the effective use and maintenance of equipment and learning materials.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, care, and multi-professional teams, maintaining strong communication to ensure a consistent approach between school, home, and other departments.
  • Maintain accurate records, follow safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety policies, and engage in ongoing training and development.
