Job summary

You will work with class teams to scaffold engagement, use visual supports and modelling, and help learners access activities at their own pace. Prior SEND experience and Level 2 TA qualification are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND such as ASC, PMLD or communication needs in schools or care settings.
  • Understanding of how sensory needs and developmental delays affect engagement and how to respond calmly.
  • Knowledge of interactive, hands-on, play‑based support strategies using visuals and modelling.
  • Qualifications such as Level 2 Teaching Assistant or related Health & Social Care/Childcare/YW.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver highly adapted, play‑based and sensory‑led activities with class teams to scaffold engagement.
  • Promote engagement using structured and nurturing approaches.
  • Use visual supports, sensory resources, and modelling to help pupils access activities.
  • Encourage communication and independence with in‑the‑moment support.
  • Support re‑engagement through gentle redirection and supportive routines.
