Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist autism school in Newcastle. The role focuses on supporting children and young people with autism and additional needs, helping them feel safe, build confidence and reach their full potential.

You will work with teaching staff to deliver engaging activities and support communication, independence and social skills, in a calm, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Patience and empathy when supporting children with autism or SEND.
• Strong communication and teamwork to collaborate with teachers and LSAs.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to individual pupil needs.
• Experience supporting autism or SEND is beneficial but not required.
• Reliability and a calm, positive approach in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with autism and additional learning needs.
• Helping deliver engaging, accessible classroom activities.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support where needed.
• Supporting communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Creating a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.
• Working as part of a supportive team alongside teachers and other LSAs.
