Job summary

Empowering Learning are seeking Behaviour Support Workers/Teaching Assistants for a Primary and Secondary Special Needs School in Harrogate. Roles are temp to perm, starting September, with pay £100-£110 per day and hours 8.30am–3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Supports include pupils with autism and challenging behaviours; you may work 1:1 or in small groups, assisting with daily tasks and IEPs under the lead teacher. This is on-site school-based work in Harrogate.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with special needs and challenging behaviours.
• Ability to implement educational activities and support plans.
• Strong communication with students, parents and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
• Willingness to work across 1:1 and small group settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher with educational programs.
• Support students with autism and communication needs.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with daily tasks and personal care as needed.
• Monitor progress and contribute to IEP development.
• Support classroom management and behaviour strategies.
• Engage in off-site recreational activities as required.
