Job summary

Thomas Bewick School, part of Prosper Learning Trust, is seeking enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to support teaching pupils with autism. The role offers term-time hours with additional training days and flexible patterns to suit family commitments.

Successful candidates will understand the SNA role, assist with pupils with autism and learning difficulties, and work with teachers, speech and language therapists to deliver planned programmes.

Qualifications

• Clear understanding of the Special Needs Assistant’s role.
• Ability to support the teaching of pupils with learning difficulties.
• GCSEs Grade C+/4+ (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing classroom support to pupils with special educational needs (autism).
• Ensure provision of general care and welfare by responding to social, emotional and physical needs of pupils.
• Work with teachers, speech and language therapists and other specialist staff to deliver agreed programmes.
