Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs across primary schools and specialist provisions. This role focuses on autism and related needs, requiring patience, consistency and the ability to adapt approaches to the individual child.

You will work with teachers and support teams to monitor progress, promote independence and support emotional regulation, with opportunities across mainstream and specialist settings.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
• Experience working with autism/ASD is highly desirable.
• Experience in a SEND school or specialist provision is advantageous.
• Confident providing 1:1 support.
• Patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Strong understanding of individualised support.
• Good communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
• Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs.
• Helping pupils access learning and the wider curriculum.
• Supporting communication and social development.
• Promoting independence and confidence.
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Supporting sensory and structured activities where appropriate.
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support teams.
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback.
