Job summary

Discovery Academy in Nuneaton is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils with ASC/SEMH, lead a small group of learners and work with a team of teaching assistants to raise achievement. The role requires Level 2 English and Maths and a passion for supporting individual learners in a supportive school environment.

The HLTA will contribute to a positive learning culture, manage classes of around nine students, and engage with parents while participating in ongoing

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 English and Maths.
• Experience with ASC/SEMH or AP advantageous but not essential.
• Strong observation and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Care passionately about each child as an individual.
• Observe and listen to pupils and respond with patience.
• Lead and support teaching assistants to maintain high standards of care and learning.
• Organise classroom activities and maintain order to support learning.
• Maintain regular contact with parents and carers to update on progress.
• Organise trips and visits for your class and contribute to short-term target reviews.
• Provide cover for lessons when needed and participate in induction and ongoing training.
