Aveley Primary, part of Catalyst Academies Trust in Thurrock, is recruiting an experienced teacher to lead a newly established Autism Resource Centre. The successful candidate will work with the SENCo and leadership team, manage dedicated staff, and ensure high-quality provision for children with autism who spend time in the centre and join mainstream classes as appropriate.

Aveley Primary was selected in 2022 to open a new resource centre for children with Autism in Thurrock. The centre's 10 places are now full, and the school is looking for an experienced teacher to lead it, supported by the SENCo and the leadership team. The successful candidate will lead the centre with dedicated support staff to meet the individual needs of the children, who will spend most of their time in the centre but join mainstream classes as appropriate.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead, develop and oversee the day-to-day operation of the Autism Resource Centre
• Co-ordinate provision for children with EHCPs
• Liaise with the SENCo and support staff working in the centre, modelling good practice
• Ensure records are accurate, up-to-date and effective
• Work with parents to ensure they are well-supported and children make progress
• Liaise with external agencies, such as educational psychology services, health and social services and voluntary bodies
