Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting an Autism Learning Mentor to join a specialist SEND school in Ashington on a long-term basis starting in September. This role is term-time only, with hours 8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday, and supports pupils aged 5-19 with Autism and PMLD.

You will build trusting relationships, deliver personalised support, and help pupils thrive in a calm, inclusive environment while working alongside dedicated staff.

Qualifications

• Recent experience supporting children or vulnerable adults.
• An Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
• Ability to provide 2 recent employment references.

Responsibilities

• Supporting children and young people with Autism on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them access learning.
• Building positive relationships that promote confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
• Working with teaching staff to deliver personalised support and adapt activities to reduce barriers to participation.
• Creating a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued and able to succeed.

This role is long-term and candidates are invited to apply for any permanent positions available in school during their placement.

You'll be joining a highly supportive SEND school for children and young people aged 5-19 with a range of PMLD needs, dedicated to reducing barriers to learning and helping every pupil thrive by recognising and building on their individual strengths.
