Job summary

First Bridge School in London (Chelsea/Imperial Wharf) is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join a fully integrated multidisciplinary team within a SEND/autism specialist primary setting. You will lead communication assessment and intervention for pupils with autism and complex communication needs, working closely with teachers, TAs and therapists.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registration are essential.
• Membership of RCSLT is desirable.
• Experience with autism and complex communication needs required.
• Confident in AAC assessment and implementation.
• Strong knowledge of EHCPs, SEND legislation, and multi-agency working.
• Ability to train and support non-clinical staff in communication strategies.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive SaLT assessments for pupils with autism and communication needs.
• Design and deliver evidence-based intervention programmes.
• Develop and implement AAC systems and PECS programmes.
• Collaborate with Teachers and TAs to embed communication strategies in class routines.
• Work with OT and Behaviour Specialists to ensure integrated approaches.
• Contribute to EHCP assessments, annual reviews, and multi-agency planning.
• Prepare clear SaLT reports for EHCPs and tribunals.
• Train staff to use SaLT strategies with confidence.
• Maintain clinical records per RCSLT and GDPR standards.
• Uphold safeguarding procedures at all times.
