Job summary

Cheshire West and Chester Council is recruiting a Specialist Family Support Worker to assist families of autistic children and young people aged 2-19, and to coordinate with schools and partner agencies to promote inclusive educational experiences across the borough.

The role involves delivering specialist advice, signposting and practical support, delivering training, developing resources, and working with specialist teachers and multi-agency partners to ensure consistent, family-centred

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with families within education or a related field.
  • Level 3 qualification in Child Care or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience of supporting autistic children, young people and their families.
  • Excellent communication, partnership and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of SEND, safeguarding, child development and inclusive practice.
  • Organised, proactive and committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist advice, guidance and support to parents, carers and professionals.
  • Promote inclusive practice and positive outcomes across educational settings.
  • Support effective communication between home, school and wider services.
  • Deliver training, workshops and information sessions.
  • Develop resources and information packs to empower families.
  • Signpost families to local services and community networks.
  • Work with specialist teachers and multi-agency partners to coordinate support.
  • Contribute to service development and improvements.
