Job summary

Educato Limited is seeking an Autism and Complex Needs Teaching Assistant in Rochdale for a long-term, full-time post starting from September. You will work with pupils requiring SEMH support, delivering one-to-one and small-group guidance to aid emotional regulation, behaviour, and learning within a supportive school team.

The role runs 8:30am to 3:30pm, with long-term continuity through the academic year end.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural, or additional needs.
• A calm, patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
• Confident supporting challenging behaviour and potentially difficult situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
• Understanding of safeguarding and the importance of pupil wellbeing.
• Has the right to work in the UK and is available full-time.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and provide consistent support.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and develop strategies to manage their emotions.
• Implement appropriate behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and engagement with learning.
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to meet individual pupil needs.
• Follow individual behaviour and support plans consistently.
• Assist pupils with their learning and encourage positive participation in the classroom.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
• Promote positive relationships and support pupils' overall wellbeing.
