Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. seeks dedicated professionals to support children and young people with autism and complex needs in a specialist residential setting in the UK. You will be part of a close team delivering person-centred care and promoting independence within a safe home environment.

Role requires empathy, resilience and the ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins. Training in specialist autism approaches will be provided, along with ongoing CPD and support

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism and complex needs in residential/care settings.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with young people and families.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and sleep-ins as required by rota.
• Commitment to safeguarding and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, knowledgeable and compassionate support to children with autism and complex needs in a specialist residential environment.
• Build strong, trusting relationships and be a reliable presence in daily life.
• Support daily routines, personal development, emotional wellbeing and independence.
• Follow care plans, risk assessments and work with professionals to deliver person-centred care.
• Use communication approaches like Makaton, PECS and AAC to support communication needs.
• Help manage sensory challenges and emotional regulation using structured approaches.
• Support life skills and independence including routines, self-care and social activities.
• Respond calmly to distressed or challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies.
• Work as part of a close-knit team to maintain a safe, nurturing home environment.
• Collaborate with families, social workers, therapists and other professionals.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
