Job summary

Education First is recruiting an experienced SEN Teacher to join a primary school in Barking & Dagenham, working within the school's Autism ARP. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons for KS1/KS2 pupils with autism and other needs, taking full class responsibility within the ARP.

The role requires QTS or relevant teaching qualification, strong SEN experience, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Essential experience working with SEN pupils.
• Experience working with KS1 and KS2 pupils.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism / ASC.
• Experience within an ARP, specialist provision or SEN setting desirable.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons appropriate to pupils' individual needs.
• Take full responsibility for the class and day-to-day teaching.
• Teach pupils across KS1 and KS2.
• Support pupils with Autism / ASC and associated additional needs.
• Differentiate the curriculum to meet individual learning needs.
• Create a structured, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Develop positive relationships with pupils and promote independence.
• Manage behaviour using appropriate and consistent strategies.
• Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff.
• Work collaboratively with the SENCO and wider school team.
