Job summary

Education First is recruiting an experienced SEN Teacher to join a primary school in Barking & Dagenham, working within the school's Autism ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision).

This role involves taking full class teaching responsibilities, delivering differentiated lessons, and supporting pupils with autism and other needs within KS1/KS2. You’ll collaborate with the ARP team and SENCO to monitor progress and ensure inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience working with pupils with SEN.
• Experience teaching KS1 and KS2 pupils.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism/ASC.
• Experience working in an ARP, specialist provision or SEN setting is desirable.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils' needs.
• Take full responsibility for the class and day-to-day teaching.
• Teach pupils across KS1 and KS2.
• Support pupils with Autism/ASC and additional needs.
• Differentiate the curriculum to meet learning needs.
• Create a structured, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Develop positive relationships with pupils and promote independence.
• Manage behaviour using appropriate strategies.
• Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff.
• Collaborate with the SENCO and wider school team.
