Job summary

The role

Liverpool City Council is looking for a motivated and professionally curious individual to join our Internal Audit Service. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your audit career while contributing to independent assurance across a diverse range of council services and helping to strengthen governance, risk management and internal control. As an Auditor, you will undertake a varied programme of financial and operational audits, audit-related assignments and investigations, working independently and alongside experienced colleagues. You will gather and analyse evidence, evaluate systems and controls, identify areas for improvement and produce clear, concise audit reports. You will also work constructively with service managers to agree practical action plans. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of local government and build experience across a wide range of services. You will also support the development of audit techniques, including the use of technology, data analysis and computer-assisted audit approaches. The role provides a strong foundation for continued professional development within internal audit, finance or accountancy.We are looking for someone with relevant experience who can organise their work effectively and deliver high-quality assignments within agreed timescales. You will have good analytical, written and verbal communication skills, be confident using Microsoft Word and Excel, and be able to build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.In return, you will join a supportive and professional Internal Audit team where you will receive guidance from Lead Auditors and the Lead Audit Manager, gain exposure to a broad range of council activities and have opportunities to develop your professional skills and qualifications.
