Job summary

Cooper Parry is seeking an Audit Trainee for our Birmingham office. If you’re curious about how businesses work, you’ll join a tight-knit team delivering statutory audits for a varied client base. The role begins January 2027 and blends study with practical hands-on experience from day one.

You’ll study for the ACA Chartered Accountant Qualification through a mix of college courses and on-the-job learning, typically taking around 3 years for graduates or 4 years for school leavers.

Qualifications

• Completed degree and at least 3 A Levels (BBC) including a numerical or business subject.
• Excited by audit and pursuing ACA while working.
• Students or school leavers welcome with the same A Level requirements.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and documenting client information — invoices, bank statements, payroll reports.
• Assessing the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
• Attending client year-end stocktakes (weekends or around Christmas).
• Speaking with client finance teams to understand their systems and processes.
• Assisting in preparing financial statements using audit software.
• Working in small teams to carry out financial testing and contribute to audit reports.
• Meeting deadlines and supporting the team to deliver high-quality work.
