Job summary

Accountable Recruitment is seeking an Audit Senior for a respected independent practice in the North West, based in Wigan. You will lead audits, prepare working papers, and act as the client contact from planning through to completion.

The role requires ACA/ACCA nearing completion or qualified, strong UK GAAP knowledge, and experience in a UK practice. A proactive, client-focused approach and supervision of junior staff are essential.

Qualifications

• ACCA or ACA qualified, or nearing completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit assignments from planning to completion.
• Prepare and review audit working papers.
• Act as main client contact throughout the audit process.
• Prepare statutory financial statements under UK GAAP.
• Identify audit risks and resolve technical queries.
• Supervise junior team members and review their work.
• Collaborate with Audit Managers and Partners to meet deadlines.
• Identify value-adding opportunities for clients.

Are you an experienced Audit Senior or nearly qualified ACA/ACCA accountant looking to take the next step in your career with a highly respected independent accountancy practice? A well-established and successful North West accountancy firm is looking to appoint an Audit Senior to join its growing Wigan team. With a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality audit, accountancy and advisory services, the firm works with an impressive and varied portfolio of clients, from owner-managed businesses and growing SMEs through to larger corporate groups and international organisations.

Audit Senior Responsibilities:

• Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion for a varied portfolio of clients across different industries and sectors.
• Preparing and reviewing audit working papers, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and auditing standards.
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients throughout the audit process, building strong and professional working relationships.
• Preparing statutory financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and relevant reporting requirements.
• Identifying audit risks, resolving queries and escalating more complex technical matters where appropriate.
• Supervising and supporting junior team members, providing guidance and reviewing their work.
• Working closely with Audit Managers and Partners to ensure assignments are completed efficiently, within agreed deadlines and budgets.
• Identifying opportunities to add value to clients through a proactive and commercially focused approach.
• Continuing to develop technical knowledge and experience across a diverse client portfolio.

Audit Senior Attributes:

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or nearing completion of your professional qualifications.
• Previous audit experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.
• Experience leading or assisting with audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Good working knowledge of UK GAAP and relevant auditing standards.
• Confident communicating directly with clients and building professional relationships.
• Experience supporting or supervising junior members of an audit team would be advantageous.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• A proactive, personable approach with a genuine desire to progress your career within audit.
