We’re looking for an experienced Audit Manager/Senior Manager for a full-time role based in Finchley (N3). The position involves leading the planning, supervision, and review of audit assignments, ensuring compliance with audit standards, managing team resources, and building strong client relationships with a focus on identifying opportunities to support wider business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Audit partners
  • To maintain general contact with the client and build a close relationship as one of the main points of contact on all matters.
  • To establish the objectives of the engagement including the issue of engagement letters, relay of timetables, issuance of audit deliverable, etc.
  • To make the general planning decisions with respect to resourcing, staff objectives and timelines, budgetary review and WIP monitoring, etc.
  • To maintain close review of the staff audit resourcing planner, and work with other audit managers and other departments to cater to the needs of the department and the firm.
  • To participate in or approve the detailed audit programming, risk assessment and audit approach to mitigate the risks.
  • To co-ordinate the scheduling of the audit work with client activities and requirements.
  • To assign the audit senior, assistants and specialists required to perform the field work and meet their training needs during assignments, providing guidance on matters as necessary and supervising their work to address queries raised during the assignment.
  • To review all planning aspects, working papers, fieldwork and completion work to bring the audit file to a stage ready for partner review prior to finalisation.
  • To discuss and resolve all contentious points in auditing, accounting or accounts disclosure, seeking appropriate specialist assistance where required.
  • To review and approve internal control/management letters, audit reports, audit follow-up letters, and any other written communication prior to issue to the client.
  • To review, and often to participate actively in, special non-audit work.
  • To assist Partners to bill clients for services rendered, monitor WIP processes and providing WIP reports to partners.
  • Prepare costing and quotes for assignments and preparing tender documentation where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Qualified ACA or ACCA with minimum 4 years PQE.
  • Proven experience in audit management is essential, preferably with an audit team in excess of 10 persons.
  • Proven experience in managing a portfolio of clients with total fee income in excess of £700,000.
  • Wide experience of preparation of accounts and audit of owner-managed companies across a range of industry sectors.
  • Experience of FRS 102 and IFRS accounting frameworks is essential.
  • Up to date working knowledge of financial reporting, auditing standards and company law.
  • Experience of larger firms’, e.g. Top 30 would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of CCH software is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Caseware software is an advantage.
  • Fully conversant with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages required with a focus on Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Sage, QuickBooks and Xero software is an advantage.
  • Experience in working at client premises.
  • Willing to travel to clients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good English, both written and verbal.
  • Good time management with ability to meet tight deadlines.
