Job summary

Audit Manager role in Liverpool with a leading independent North West firm. You will lead audits from planning to completion, managing a portfolio of SME/owner‑managed and not‑for‑profit clients while directly supervising 3–4 staff.

The role emphasises business development, client relationships and progression toward RI status within an established management team. ACA/ACCA qualification and solid UK auditing knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Must be ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent.
• Experience managing multiple audits and deadlines.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver audit engagements from planning through to completion.
• Act as main point of contact for a portfolio of clients including not-for-profit and SME/owner-managed businesses.
• Directly line manage 3-4 team members.
• Involvement in pitches and tenders; identify opportunities within existing client relationships; develop visibility within the firm.

Audit Manager

Location: Liverpool

Salary: circa £60k

Our client, a leading independent firm across the North West are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join their established and growing practice. The role is best suited to someone who is not only technically highly proficient but also engaged, confident and commercially minded, with a genuine interest in client relationships and business development. The role is pitched at Manager level with short term progression to RI status, understudying the existing management team with the aim to lead the audit offering of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver audit engagements from planning through to completion
• Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients including not for profit and SME/owner managed businesses and professional practices
• Directly line manage 3-4 team members

Play an active role in business development, including:

• Involvement in pitches and tenders
• Identifying opportunities within existing client relationships
• Developing commercial confidence and visibility within the firm
• Ad hoc non audit related projects, including due diligence work and problem solving accounting issues
• Assisting with the firm's Audit Quality Control process

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• ACA/ACCA qualified
• Operating at Audit Manager level
• High level familiarity with UK auditing and accounting standards
• Background in general practice
• Experience managing multiple audits and deadlines concurrently
• Commitment to audit quality and attention to detail
• Experience of managing SRA Accounts Rules Reviews would be an advantage, but not mandatory
