We're BDO, an accountancy and business advisory firm providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today's changing world.
We work with Britain's economic engine—ambitious, entrepreneurial, high-growth businesses—and directly advise their owners and management teams.
We'll broaden your horizons
Learning and Development (L&D) is a key enabler of our strategy as an Audit Stream and is critical to our success. It supports our ability to attract, develop, and retain talented people who take pride in their work and deliver for our business. Effective L&D underpins quality and productivity by helping our people develop the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles and reach their potential.
Effective L&D requires specialist resources to partner with the Audit Stream, identify training needs, and respond appropriately. It involves careful planning, project management, a critical-thinking and commercial mindset, and an understanding of regulatory requirements. It also demands consideration of the latest innovations, tools, and technologies to develop tailored, relevant, and timely personal and professional development programs.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Manager / Senior Manager or equivalent to join our Learning Development team. This role is suitable for a talented, high-performing, and ambitious individual eager to support our current curriculum, wider L&D initiatives, and help shape future L&D strategies during an exciting growth phase. This position reports to the Development and Monitoring Lead (DAM).
The Learning Development team comprises learning designers responsible for designing, curating, or creating content for the Audit programme. The goal is to develop impactful, innovative solutions that meet learner needs and deliver clear business outcomes. The team includes technical and non-technical specialists responsible for main authoring activities.
Lead authors collaborate with the Business Partnering team and Audit Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand business objectives and translate them into learning objectives and interventions. They use learning design methodologies, innovation, and insights (co-created with the Innovation and Technology team) to author complex content. They also support project management and facilitate programs where appropriate.
The successful candidate will lead a portfolio of programs, support broader team activities, review content, coach junior members, and drive initiatives like our Learning Library and Learning Culture programs.
Required experience includes practical audit knowledge, understanding of financial reporting, ethics, professional conduct, and experience in designing technical learning content. Formal design qualifications are beneficial but not essential, as equivalent on-the-job experience will be considered. The role can be based anywhere in the UK, with travel to London and other locations as needed.
