We're BDO, an accountancy and business advisory firm providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today's changing world. We work with Britain's economic engine—ambitious, entrepreneurially spirited, high-growth businesses—and advise their owners and management teams directly.
Our Learning & Development (L&D) Strategy
L&D is a key enabler of our strategy within the Audit Stream and is critical to our success. It helps us attract, develop, and retain talented individuals who take pride in their work and deliver results. Effective L&D underpins quality and productivity by developing our people's knowledge and skills, supporting their personal and professional growth.
Successful L&D requires specialist resources who partner with the Audit Stream to identify training needs and respond appropriately. It involves careful planning, project management, a critical-thinking approach, and understanding regulatory requirements. Leveraging the latest innovations, tools, and technology is essential to create tailored, relevant, and timely development opportunities.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Manager / Senior Manager or equivalent to join our Learning Development team. The role suits a high-performing, ambitious individual eager to support our current curriculum and shape future L&D strategy during a growth phase. This role reports to the Development and Monitoring Lead (DAM).
The Learning Development team comprises learning designers responsible for designing and curating content for the Audit programme. The goal is to develop impactful, innovative solutions aligned with learner needs and business outcomes. The team includes technical and non-technical specialists involved in content authoring.
Lead authors collaborate with Business Partnering teams and Audit SMEs to understand business objectives, translate them into learning objectives, and design effective learning interventions using modern methodologies and technological insights. They support project management and facilitate programmes where appropriate.
The successful candidate will lead a portfolio of programmes, review content, coach junior members, and support team-wide initiatives like the Learning Library and Learning Culture programmes.
Essential qualifications include practical audit experience, understanding of financial reporting, ethics, and professional conduct. Experience in designing technical learning content is required; formal design qualifications are advantageous but not essential, as proven on-the-job experience is considered.
This role is UK-based with travel to London and other locations, including residential stays for certain courses.
