Job summary

Dains is seeking an Audit Director/Partner in Birmingham to lead the audit practice and own a significant client portfolio. You will drive delivery of high-quality audit services, shape growth strategy, and mentor Audit Managers and teams.

You will build senior client relationships, provide commercial insights, manage risk and ensure compliance with professional standards while collaborating across the firm to deliver a seamless client experience.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
• RI status or working towards gaining RI.
• Significant experience at Senior Manager, Director or equivalent level.
• Extensive audit and assurance experience across varied client portfolio.
• Strong knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards.
• Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
• Experience managing, developing and motivating high-performing teams.
• Commercial mindset with a desire to contribute to business growth.
• Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients across sectors, delivering high-quality audit and assurance services.
• Acting as a trusted advisor to clients with commercial and strategic insight.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
• Leading, coaching and developing Audit Managers and wider team members.
• Taking responsibility for audit quality, risk management and compliance with professional standards.
• Supporting business development activities, including networking, tenders and proposals.

The Dains Group is continuing its ambitious growth journey and as part of this expansion, we are seeking an exceptional Audit Director or Partner to join our Birmingham office.

This is a rare opportunity for a senior audit professional to take ownership of a significant client portfolio, lead the delivery of high-quality audit services, drive business development initiatives and play a key role in shaping the future growth of our audit practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients across a range of sectors, including commercial, not-for-profit and third sector, ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit and assurance services.
• Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, providing commercial and strategic insight.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to add value and expand services.
• Leading, coaching and developing Audit Managers and wider team members.
• Taking responsibility for audit quality, risk management and compliance with professional standards.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
