Job summary

MHA in Milton Keynes is seeking an Audit Director to lead a broad portfolio of clients, driving delivery, quality and profitability. You will work closely with Partners to shape the Audit practice, nurture client relationships and identify opportunities for service expansion.

The role requires a strategic mindset, strong technical audit expertise and a track record of developing teams and business opportunities within a dynamic firm environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a substantial portfolio of OMB, private equity-backed, overseas-owned and large corporate clients, acting as the primary relationship lead and trusted business adviser.
• Take overall responsibility for the delivery, quality, profitability and risk management of client engagements, ensuring exceptional client service and compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
• Work closely with Partners to deliver the firm's strategic objectives, contributing to the growth, direction and success of the Audit team, office and wider firm.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders, identifying opportunities to expand services, enhance client value and increase fee income across the portfolio.
• Lead on complex and high-risk audit engagements, providing technical expertise, commercial insight and practical solutions to clients and engagement teams.
• Drive business development activity through networking, market engagement, developing professional referrer relationships and leveraging existing contacts to generate new client opportunities.
• Take ownership of resourcing, workflow management and engagement profitability across the portfolio, ensuring teams are deployed effectively and projects are delivered within budget and timescale expectations.
• Act as a role model and leader within the team, inspiring and developing Senior Managers, Managers and wider team members through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Support the recruitment, retention and succession planning of talent within the Audit team, helping to build a high-performing and inclusive culture.
• Champion innovation, continuous improvement and best practice, encouraging teams to challenge existing approaches and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and client experience.
• Develop and maintain a strong external profile in the marketplace, representing the firm at industry events, networking forums and client functions to enhance MHA's reputation and market presence.
