Job summary

Forvis Mazars UK is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager in Manchester. You will lead multiple audit engagements from planning through completion, supervise junior staff, manage client communications, and ensure timely, high-quality audit delivery.

The role requires ACA/CA/ACCA or equivalent, external audit experience with public sector bodies, and strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS and the Companies Act.

Qualifications

• ACA / CA / ACCA (or equivalent) required.
• Experience in external audit, especially with public sector bodies.
• Ability to lead audits from planning to completion.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Proficient in UK GAAP, IFRS and the Companies Act.

Responsibilities

• Audit delivery for local government and NHS audits from planning to completion.
• Plan and organise audits with allocated resources and timelines.
• Apply up-to-date technical knowledge (UK GAAP/FRS 102, IFRS, Companies Act).
• Draft and review key reporting outputs for senior review.
• Coach and supervise junior staff during fieldwork.
• Ensure files meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage client relationships and billing in line with plans.
• Collaborate with cross-service lines on firm initiatives.
