A leading Top 15 accountancy firm is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join their London team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, mentor junior staff, and manage a diverse portfolio of clients across Tech, FinTech, and Financial Services sectors.
About the Role
As part of a close-knit team, you will work directly with partners and directors to provide high-quality, client-focused services. You will manage and mentor junior staff, contributing to their development and progression, with the option to be involved in formal training if desired.
A dedicated partner mentor will support your career development, with clear opportunities for progression at all levels. You will also be involved in promoting the firm's services, maintaining and growing client relationships, and potentially specializing in key sectors.
You will manage a portfolio of clients with gross recurring fees of £500k+, primarily focusing on audit, while also gaining exposure to business advisory work as required.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Project Management:
- Acting as the day-to-day contact for internal teams, clients, HMRC, and other professional advisors.
- Leading all aspects of audit and accounts assignments, including:
- Job planning, budgeting, and time management.
- Supervising and delegating to the audit team.
- Monitoring progress and managing projects.
- Conducting detailed file reviews, providing feedback to the team.
- Reviewing corporation tax computations and liaising with tax specialists.
- Finalizing files for partner review, including corporation tax calculations.
- Submitting reports to HMRC and Companies House.
Team Leadership & Development:- Supervising and mentoring trainees, providing guidance throughout their training contracts.
- Ensuring staff are fully utilized and progressing in their development.
- Delivering in-house training sessions and providing constructive feedback.
Business Development:- Attending client events and seminars as required.
- Identifying opportunities for account growth and assisting in new client pitches.
Operational & Administrative Support:- Contributing to process improvements for client and staff management.
- Assisting with billing procedures and debt collection, as necessary.
RequirementsSkills, Knowledge & Expertise:- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification.
- Experience managing a portfolio and leading teams.
- Minimum of 40% audit work in current role.
- Strong knowledge of corporate tax, UK auditing, and accounting standards.
- Commercial awareness and ability to translate technical knowledge into practical solutions.
- Experience in auditing Tech, FinTech, or Financial Services clients is highly advantageous.
- Expertise in UK GAAP, FRS 101, FRS 102, and IFRS.
- Commitment to professional development and technical excellence.
- Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and time management skills.
