Job summary

AVI-SPL is seeking an AV Support Technician to provide backfill coverage across client campus sites, handling AV/VC setup, operation and maintenance. The role involves direct interaction with customers and stakeholders, ensuring reliable audiovisual services across events and meetings.

You'll work either as part of a permanent AV team or on a lone site, adapting to varied environments while delivering high-quality support and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate Videoconference hardware (Cisco, Webex, Poly etc) and troubleshoot audio/video issues.
• Experience with PA, projection and room control/booking systems (Crestron/AMX etc).
• Intermediate IT knowledge and customer-facing professionalism.
• Maintain excellence in customer service under pressure across seniority levels.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with flexibility for last-minute requests.
• Ability to impart knowledge to colleagues and adapt to new environments.
• Capable of working in a small team or independently on site.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cover permanently placed onsite staff holidays, sickness and absences.
• Provide basic maintenance support for AV and VC equipment on client sites.
• Support clients, their staff and external clients with AV/VC needs.
• Set up, operate and maintain AV/VC equipment.
• Collaborate with the AV team or work autonomously on a lone site.
• Assist end users as requested by the client.
• Provide event support including PA, VC, projection in various environments.
• Cross-train with team members to ensure seamless delivery of services.
• Handle any admin processing required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Cover Technicians primary function is to provide AV Support across various client campus sites providing backfill coverage for sick and holiday leave. The position involves a high degree of exposure to our customers and key client stakeholders.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

• Covering the permanently placed Onsite Staff holiday, sickness and absence leave.
• Supporting the requirements of the client site in which placed with by providing basic maintenance support of Audio Visual and Video Conferencing equipment and systems onsite.
• Provide AV/VC support to our clients, their staff and external clients.
• Set up, operate and maintain AV/VC equipment.
• Adaptable to working as part of a permanent based AV team or working on a lone site independently.
• Supporting end users as requested by the Client.
• Event support including set up and operation of PA systems, VC System, projection systems etc. This could be in small Event environments or full auditorium setups.
• Cross-trains with other members of the team to ensure a seamless delivery of services and support to our clients.
• Any admin processing that may be required.

Items to Consider:

• AVI-SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and work location as necessary. Work hours may vary based on client requirements and may include travel to various locations in support of the account.
• This position will work on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Haves:

• Ability to operate Videoconference hardware (Cisco, Webex, Poly etc) and to troubleshoot any potential issues relating to audio feedback, no video etc.
• Proven experience in operating PA, projection and room control/booking systems (Crestron/AMX etc)
• Intermediate IT knowledge.
• Maturity, especially when under pressure and being able to maintain excellence in Customer Service with clients of all seniority levels.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills. The nature of this role involves last minute requests and as such, flexibility is also a key attribute.
• Ability to impart knowledge to those less skilled.
• Adaptability to work in unfamiliar surroundings.
• To work well as part of a small team or on your own.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
