Job summary

AVI-SPL UK & Ireland is seeking a Cover Technician to provide AV support across client campus sites, backfilling for sick and holiday leave. The role involves high exposure to customers and key stakeholders.

You will cover onsite and possibly travel to various locations, handling setup, operation, and maintenance of AV/VC systems, while collaborating with a small team or working independently.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating videoconference hardware (Cisco, Webex, Poly).
• Experience in operating PA, projection and room control/booking systems (Crestron/AMX).
• Intermediate IT knowledge.
• Maturity under pressure with strong customer service.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills; flexible with last-minute requests.
• Ability to impart knowledge to others.
• Adaptability to unfamiliar surroundings.
• Works well in a small team or independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Covering the permanently placed Onsite Staff holiday, sickness and absence leave.
• Providing basic maintenance support of AV and VC onsite for client sites.
• Provide AV/VC support to our clients, their staff and external clients.
• Set up, operate and maintain AV/VC equipment.
• Adaptable to working as part of a permanent based AV team or lone site.
• Support end users as requested by the Client.
• Event support including setup and operation of PA systems, VC System, projection systems, etc.
• Cross-trains with other team members to ensure seamless delivery of services.
• Any admin processing that may be required.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities

The Cover Technicians responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Covering the permanently placed Onsite Staff holiday, sickness and absence leave.
• Supporting the requirements of the client site in which placed with by providing basic maintenance support of Audio Visual and Video Conferencing equipment and systems onsite.
• Provide AV/VC support to our clients, their staff and external clients.
• Set up, operate and maintain AV/VC equipment.
• Adaptable to working as part of a permanent based AV team or working on a lone site independently.
• Supporting end users as requested by the Client.
• Event support including set up and operation of PA systems, VC System, projection systems etc. This could be in small Event environments or full auditorium setups.
• Cross-trains with other members of the team to ensure a seamless delivery of services and support to our clients.
• Any admin processing that may be required.

Items To Consider

• AVI-SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and work location as necessary. Work hours may vary based on client requirements and may include travel to various locations in support of the account.
• This position will work on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment.

Must-Haves

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Ability to operate Videoconference hardware (Cisco, Webex, Poly etc) and to troubleshoot any potential issues relating to audio feedback, no video etc.
• Proven experience in operating PA, projection and room control/booking systems (Crestron/AMX etc)
• Intermediate IT knowledge.
• Maturity, especially when under pressure and being able to maintain excellence in Customer Service with clients of all seniority levels.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills. The nature of this role involves last minute requests and as such, flexibility is also a key attribute.
• Ability to impart knowledge to those less skilled.
• Adaptability to work in unfamiliar surroundings.
• To work well as part of a small team or on your own.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
