Job summary

Gravity Media seeks an Audio Guarantee Engineer to lead all audio engineering aspects on location or in a Remote Broadcast Gallery, ensuring high-fidelity broadcast delivery against tight deadlines.

The role covers on-site operation of complex sound systems, planning and execution from setup to transmission, with a salary based on experience and a fringe benefits package including annual leave, pension, and private health membership after probation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years sound engineering experience in a live television environment.
  • Demonstrable experience with digital sound consoles, in particular Calrec mixers.
  • Thorough knowledge of multichannel sound processing and encoding.
  • Extensive experience configuring intercom systems, especially Telex and Riedel.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and operate digital audio consoles.
  • Program and operate video and audio routing systems, embedders, and Dolby encoders.
  • Coordinate all talkback communications on site.
  • Specify audio equipment and crewing levels for productions, recommending appropriate microphones and their placement. Audio mixing as required.
  • Contribute to continual improvement of processes and practices.

JOB TITLE: Audio Guarantee Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE
A BRIEF SUMMARY

As a Gravity Media Audio Guarantee you will take charge of all areas of audio engineering on location or within a Remote Broadcast Gallery. You will be instrumental in maintaining high standards from the planning stages through to transmission. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining complex broadcast sound systems on site, ensuring that a high-fidelity Broadcast product is delivered to strict deadlines.

Working location: High Wycombe

Weekly hours: 240 days per year, variable working hours

Reporting to: Head of Audio

Role type: Full-time, permanent

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
  • Configuring, maintaining, and operating digital audio consoles.
  • Programming and operation of video and audio routing systems, embedders, and Dolby encoders.
  • Co-ordination of all talkback communications on site.
  • Specifying audio equipment and crewing levels for productions, recommending appropriate microphones and their placement. Audio mixing as required.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU
  • A minimum of 3 years sound engineering experience in a live television environment, preferably in outside broadcasts.
  • Demonstratable experience of digital sound consoles, in particular Calrec mixers.
  • Thorough knowledge of multichannel sound processing and encoding.
  • Extensive experience of configuring intercom systems, in particular Telex and Riedel.
  • Programming and installation of RF base stations and radios, and an understanding of licensing procedures.
  • Working knowledge of ISDN and telephony, 2-wire systems and VOIP.
  • Conversant with network and IP protocols.
  • An understanding of different video formats and their implications on audio processing.
  • Demonstrate Trust by acting with integrity, accountability, and transparency

Due to the nature of our industry this role will require both national and international travel and regular weekend working. A valid UK driving licence is also essential
