Job summary

Journo Resources Limited is hiring a Story Distribution Editor for The Lead Local titles. The role focuses on getting our local journalism in front of more people by sharing stories across social media, online communities and other outlets.

The position is hybrid (home-based in the North West and co-working in Preston) with a fixed-term contract through March 2027 and a 37.5-hour week. Experience in promoting content on diverse platforms is required.

Qualifications

• Experience creating, distributing or promoting content across social media and other online platforms.
• Understanding of how online communities work and how to engage with them in an authentic and thoughtful way.
• Ability to spot opportunities to get stories in front of new audiences.

Responsibilities

• Story distribution and audience engagement
• Find creative ways to share The Lead’s journalism across a wide range of online platforms and communities.
• Promote stories through owned channels and third‑party platforms such as Reddit.
• Identify relevant online communities and conversations where journalism could add value, and build relationships with those audiences.
• Adapt how stories are presented to suit different platforms and audiences, while maintaining accuracy and integrity.
• Monitor content performance and use insights to influence distribution strategy.
• Media outreach and partnerships
• Identify opportunities for The Lead’s stories to be picked up, shared or featured by other media outlets and organisations.
• Build relationships with journalists, publishers, community groups and other organisations to amplify work.
• Proactively pitch relevant stories to external outlets to extend reach and impact.
• Learning and development
• Track reach and engagement of distributed stories; share learnings with the team to strengthen distribution strategy.
• Experiment with new approaches to reach different communities and audiences.
