Job summary

Teaching Vacancies is advertising an Educational Welfare Officer/Attendance Manager. This full-time contract post is based at Redcar, TS11 6AR, and focuses on leading the attendance team to improve student access to learning through strategic, data-informed interventions.

The role requires knowledge of attendance legislation, safeguarding, and strong experience engaging families. It includes home visits, coordination with safeguarding partners, and reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

Senior role requiring legislative expertise and strong interpersonal skills.
Experience engaging families constructively to prioritise learning.
Knowledge of the legislative framework governing school attendances and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

Lead the attendance team and drive whole-school strategies to improve attendance.
Apply the academy's attendance and punctuality policy.
Identify children in need of support, assess need, plan and implement interventions.
Conduct home visits and coordinate with safeguarding agencies.
Manage the legal framework by identifying cases for court or Penalty Notices, prepare evidence and act as witness.
Prepare and analyse regular data reports for senior leadership and lead attendance panels.
