Job summary

Outwood Academy Bydales is seeking an Education Welfare Officer/Attendance Manager on maternity cover starting 01/12/2026. The role leads the attendance team to improve student access to learning, with a focus on policy application, safeguarding collaboration, and data reporting.

The post requires a Level 3 qualification and knowledge of attendance legislation, reporting, and handling complex family engagement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the legislative framework governing school attendances.
• Experience using education welfare, social work, or counselling approaches with parents and children.
• Strong record keeping and report writing ability.
• Resilience in difficult, conflict‑ridden situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the attendance team and apply the academy's attendance policy.
• Identify students needing support and plan interventions.
• Conduct home visits and coordinate with safeguarding agencies.
• Prepare evidence for court, Penalty Notices, and reports for SLT.
