Job summary

Principal Education are delighted to be working with a school we support to appoint an experienced Attendance and Welfare Lead. The role focuses on improving pupil attendance, supporting student welfare and removing barriers to educational success.

You will work closely with pupils, parents, pastoral teams and external agencies to identify concerns early and implement targeted interventions that foster consistent attendance and engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering attendance and welfare support in a school setting.
• Ability to collaborate with pupils, parents and external agencies.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead monitoring and improvement of pupil attendance and punctuality across the school.
• Identify patterns of absence and lateness using attendance data to guide interventions.
• Develop and implement attendance barriers reduction strategies.
• Build relationships with pupils and families to provide support and challenge.
• Coordinate with safeguarding teams and senior leaders on welfare matters.
• Provide regular attendance reports to senior leadership.
