Job summary

Telford Park School is seeking an Education Welfare Officer to lead attendance casework, liaise with families and coordinate multi-agency support. You will work with safeguarding and pastoral teams to remove barriers to regular attendance and help pupils engage, thrive and progress.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, young people and families.
  • Experience within education, pastoral care, safeguarding, family support or related field.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work positively with families while maintaining high expectations.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Understanding safeguarding challenges faced by vulnerable children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on attendance casework, family liaison and targeted intervention for pupils with attendance concerns.
  • Identify attendance issues early and coordinate effective support.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils and families.
  • Conduct attendance meetings and home visits when appropriate.
  • Work with safeguarding and pastoral teams to remove barriers to attendance.
  • Support pupils experiencing anxiety or safeguarding concerns.
  • Coordinate attendance plans, reintegration support and multi-agency interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and reports.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and local authority when escalation is needed.
  • View attendance as safeguarding, welfare and inclusion, not just administration.
