Job summary

Westfield School is seeking an Education Welfare and Attendance Officer to promote excellent attendance, punctuality and student well-being. The role combines administrative precision, data analysis and compassionate, face-to-face support for families.

You will work with the Attendance and Admissions manager to monitor attendance, engage families, provide targeted support and coordinate with external agencies. GCSEs in Maths and English are required, with evidence of certificates to be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with schools and attendance data preferred.
• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) and be able to provide evidence of certificates.
• Ability to engage with families and external agencies with sensitivity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Monitor attendance: track and analyse daily attendance data to identify patterns of absence and absenteeism.
• Family engagement: conduct home visits and meetings with parents to discuss attendance and develop action plans.
• Intervention & support: casework for vulnerable students and mentoring to improve engagement with education.
• Multi-agency collaboration: liaise with social care, health professionals, early help teams and local education welfare services.
• Compliance & legal: maintain records and prepare documentation for legal proceedings or penalties as required.
