Marchant Recruitment is seeking an organised Attendance Officer for a secondary school in Lewisham, South East London. The role focuses on daily attendance monitoring, safeguarding compliance, and liaising with parents to address absences.

You will work within pastoral and administrative teams to improve attendance across year groups. Responsibilities include first-day contact with families, data management in SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom, and supporting intervention plans.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school setting in attendance, administrative, or student support roles.
• Proficiency with school database applications (SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom) and general software (Excel, Word).
• Clear, professional communication with parents; empathy balanced with firmness; confidentiality handling.

Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring of morning/afternoon attendance and investigation of unexplained absences.
• First-day contact with parents via phone, email and text regarding absences.
• Record and update attendance data in MIS (SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom) and identify attendance trends.
• Support with intervention plans and parent meetings to address barriers to attendance.
• Ensure attendance logging aligns with safeguarding guidelines and local authority procedures.
