Job summary

Think Differently Education Trust is seeking a proactive Attendance Officer to promote excellent school attendance and address barriers to learning across Birmingham. The role requires travel between sites and pupils’ homes, with a roadworthy vehicle and valid business use insurance.

You will work with children, families and professionals, applying early help strategies and data-driven monitoring within the SEN framework. DBS clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, young people and families.
  • Experience with partnership/multi-agency working and implementing behaviour strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to monitor progress using data.
  • Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant educational qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Promote excellent school attendance and challenge non-attendance.
  • Reduce the impact of educational disadvantage and enable access to education.
  • Drive between sites and pupils' homes; operate a roadworthy vehicle and insurance.

About the Role

The purpose of the role is to work in partnership with centre staff, parents, pupils and other professionals to promote excellent school attendance, challenge non-attendance, and reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all young people to access education. Please note it is essential that you have the ability to drive between sites and to pupils’ homes therefore must have use of a roadworthy vehicle and current business use insurance.

The successful candidates will have experience of working with children, young people and families; as well as partnership/multi-agency working and is able to implement agreed behaviour management strategies consistently and effectively. You will have excellent communication skills and have the ability to implement early help strategies to prevent the need for escalation. You will be able to use data effectively to monitor and report on progress. Working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice is essential along with a good standard of education including A* - C in English and Mathematics or equivalent and a relevant Level 3 qualification.
