Job summary

West Grantham Secondary Academy is seeking an Attendance and Family Liaison Officer to lead attendance initiatives and strengthen family engagement within a community-focused school environment.

The role combines strategic oversight, data analysis, and frontline work with students, families and partners, including safeguarding responsibilities as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. The position starts early to support coverage needs.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children in education, health or social care environments.
• Good working knowledge of legislation relating to school attendance.
• Strong communication, organisation and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to improve attendance and punctuality across the academy.
• Analyse attendance data, identify patterns and recommend targeted interventions.
• Work with students and families to address barriers to regular attendance.
• Build partnerships with external agencies to secure appropriate support for each child.
• Arrange daily cover for absent staff and coordinate with supply agencies (7.30 am start).
• Collaborate with pastoral and SEND teams to promote regular attendance and outcomes.
• Fulfil Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities and contribute to safeguarding practice.
