Job summary

School-Home Support is seeking an Attendance and Family Support Worker to join our team at Woodlands Primary School, Sheffield. This term-time role is 35 hours per week with inset days and salary £21,694–£23,232 per annum.

The Family Support Practitioner will work with school staff to improve attendance, punctuality and engagement, delivering casework to promote educational outcomes and support families in the community.

Qualifications

• Experience in education settings to improve attendance and engagement.
• Experience engaging with parents, carers, and children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support.
• Understanding factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn.
• Experience working with families from diverse communities.
• Knowledge of holistic family support approaches.
• Understanding safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a programme of casework to promote educational outcomes.
• Work with school staff to improve attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.
• Based at the setting and deliver supportive family interventions.

SHS Family Support Practitioner focusing on improving attendance in schools and whole-family support

Location: Woodlands Primary School, Sheffield S14 1SL

Hours: 5 days per week, term time only - 35 hours per week plus inset days

Salary: £21,694 - £23,232 per annum (This role is term-time only; the salary is in line with working weeks)

We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner to join our team and to make a difference in children’s lives every single day. As the Family Support Practitioner, you will be based at the setting and work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and their families we support. You will also focus your support to help improve attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.

You will have excellent relationship-building and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with a wide group of people.

You’ll have previous experience of:

• working in an education setting or similar to improve a child’s school attendance and engagement in learning
• working and engaging with parents/carers, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support
• factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn
• working with families from diverse communities
• holistic family support
• safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children
