Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join the Children and Young People Disability Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will manage a varied caseload spanning Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children, delivering assessments and interventions to safeguard children and support positive change.

This ASYE role within Disabilities requires experience in the area and involves working in a multi-agency environment to ensure the right support is

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with current registration.
• Experience handling Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children caseloads.
• Ability to assess, plan and coordinate interventions and safeguarding.
• Proven ability to work in multi-agency settings and to prepare court reports.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with families and professionals.
• Proficient in maintaining case records and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Undertake assessments and arrange accommodation for children and young people.
• Manage a caseload of children and families to achieve positive outcomes.
• Collaborate with service users, families, carers and partners to identify needs.
• Maintain positive working relationships with professionals and services.
• Coordinate information, plan interventions and compile reports for court as required.
• Lead multi-agency meetings and progress actions and outcomes.
• Assess and manage risk and escalate safeguarding concerns.
• Keep up to date with legislation and best practice through CPD.
