Job description

We are looking for an experienced and confident Assurance Manager professional to join our growing team. You’ll play a key role in managing claims, insurance, vehicle damage and network performance, making fair, well-informed decisions that protect our reputation while maintaining customer trust. You’ll also coach and support the team to uphold high standards and ensure a consistent, professional approach.

About Engineius

Engineius’ goal is simple: to make vehicle movement easy. We are on our way to creating the leading end-to-end movement solution in the UK for our customers (such as Hertz and The AA), delivered by our network of 600+ drivers and transport agents across the UK.

Since going live in April 2018, we have acquired over 80 clients, many of whom can claim to be amongst the largest players in the UK automotive industry. We are already one of the largest competitors in our space but have ambitions to grow much further and we are crazy about sustainability, to date we have saved fleets over 10,000,000 tonnes of CO2.

We are seeing our hard work paying off as we have won 7 awards, including Best Fleet Software three years in a row, a highly commended well-being award, two innovation awards, and one outstanding product of the year award. You can read about our awards here: https://www.engineius.co.uk/our-awards

Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Legislation
  • Monitor evolving transport legislation and translate regulatory requirements into practical actions across the business, ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Analyse compliance data to identify trends, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement, supporting informed business decision-making.
  • Oversee adherence to insurance requirements and policies, acting as the key liaison with insurers and brokers on escalations, queries and claims.
  • Maintain accurate reporting across audits, compliance, complaints and insurance performance, ensuring HubSpot workflows and internal systems are effective and up to date.
Network Management
  • Lead oversight of driver and supplier standards, including audits, reliability reviews, supplier scorecards and speeding performance.
  • Monitor network performance and compliance with supplier agreements, including Trade Plate administration, tagging and exclusions.
  • Act as a key escalation point for driver and supplier investigations, complaints, account suspensions/deactivations and commendations.
  • Identify performance and conduct trends across the network and work with operational teams to drive improvements and maintain high standards.
Aftercare, Damage & Insurance Claims
  • Lead investigations into accidents, vehicle damage and related incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to reduce recurrence.
  • Oversee driver clawbacks, charges, fines, damage contributions and levies, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent and aligned with policy.
  • Manage insurance cases end-to-end, acting as the primary liaison with insurers and brokers while ensuring policy requirements and reporting obligations are met.
  • Use data and insight to identify opportunities to reduce claims, damage and associated costs through improved risk management and operational processes.
  • Own the complaint and remediation framework end-to-end, ensuring clear customer communication, timely resolution and effective follow-up.
  • Partner with Commercial and Operations teams to strengthen reporting, track actions and drive cross-functional improvements to prevent recurring issues.
What Characteristics Are We Looking For?
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate a team and understand how your function contributes to wider business performance.
  • A confident problem-solver and decision-maker who can navigate ambiguity, use data and objective information, and make sound, well-reasoned decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust, influence stakeholders and work effectively across teams.
  • High levels of integrity and critical thinking, with a commitment to making fair, considered decisions and doing the right thing.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the confidence to take on new challenges, work outside your comfort zone and drive continuous improvement.
  • Background in motor claims, insurance or vehicle damage management, ideally within a logistics, fleet, automotive or transport environment.
  • Experience using data and insight to identify trends, manage risk and improve operational performance.
  • Exposure to developing or improving processes, systems and controls within a regulated or operational environment.
